Okay, so I'm not the only baker in the family...

My dad and a couple of his sisters are very well known in the family for having the "Baking Gene". My mom too - but I'm talking about the "Hubertz" side of the family again here.....

Yes, when I learn how - I'll post pictures, but for now, why don't you check out this website and see some examples of how this gene has passed on to one of my cousins (I hear his sister is a snappy baker too), the son of one of the aforementioned aunts and my godmother also. I present to you the genius of Matt: http://www.mattbielich.com/

It makes me want to bake up a cake or two this weekend while hanging out with mom while dad and the brother are out of town - mom and I were always the crafty ones in the family. (Boy did I start a fight with that comment.) Besides, I have an even better reason to bake this weekend - my husband's birthday is on Monday.

Have a lovely baking weekend... I know I will.

Yay! A wedding!

Hey, I've just received wonderful news - my cousin, Bryce, who has been engaged for a few months now (has it almost been a year possibly???) has just sent us the official "Save the Date" card and it's adorable. Of course, if I was more capable technology wise, I would offer to put a copy of the card up on my blog..... but until I figure out how to do so with my limited access to the Internet and especially the lack of any Internet usage at home (where I could plug in my camera, etc.) - you will all just have to wait and I'll come back and update as necessary.

Although, I have to admit - I stared at the postcard for a minute and because of the crazy and cute picture on the front and thought.... "who the heck is inviting me to their August wedding?" Now, before my cousin and his blushing bride can give me a hard time about not recognizing them in the picture - I was standing in a very dim apartment building hallway. I did however recognize the dog (yes, I spent quite a bit of time with the munchkin while my aunt/cousin's mom was dog sitting and they were relocating from lovely Milwaukee, WI to even lovelier San Francisco).

I'm tremendously excited for them both - and it's nice to see that my sister and I are not the only Hubertz grandchildren finally deciding to make the plunge! :D
